As the grand old Janata Party, established during the Emergency era by the revered Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan, finds itself navigating challenging times, a significant moment awaits with the upcoming Presidential Election scheduled for January 26, 2024.
The Janata Party Punjab State Headquarters in Ludhiana is set to host the crucial plenary session on January 23, 2024, as announced by Shri Kunal Sofat, the Punjab State President. Leaders and office bearers from across India are anticipated to attend this session, according to General Secretary Shri Rajesh Mangal and Advocate Ranjeet Singh.
In a press release, Dr. Manoj Vajpayee, Vice President of the Janata Party, provided a brief history of the party. Notably, he mentioned the departure of Dr. Subramanian Swamy from the Janata Party in 2013, as he announced his merger with the BJP. However, due to vigilant whistle-blowers, the merger did not materialize.
Renowned Investigative Journalist and Author of “Geopolitics,” Shri Navneet Chaturvedi, played a pivotal role in exposing the Rafale scam and GSPC scam during his tenure with the Congress party’s communication department. After joining the Janata Party, he was elected as the National President on December 15, 2021.
As Mr. Navneet Chaturvedi completes his two-year tenure, he announced via Twitter that he will not seek re-election for the presidency. Despite his decision, the party is gearing up for the election, with several prominent leaders expressing their intent to contest. Shri Vijay Kumar Ramkinkar Jha, Advocate Ranjeet Singh, Shri A.K. Jha, Shri Rajkapoor Yadav, Shri Jaiprakash Bandhu, and Shri Tejnarayan Singh are among those who have expressed their willingness to participate.
Despite the challenges, the Janata Party is committed to conducting the election in compliance with the Election Commission of India’s notification dated November 11, 2022. The plenary session aims to address necessary compliance and resolve legal matters pending at the Hon’ble Civil Judge Tis Hazari Court in Delhi, especially in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Parliament Election. The Janata Party, with a significant presence in major states, remains poised for this historic moment in its political journey.
